Frequently asked questions
Privacy, languages, pricing, what's different. Direct answers below.
What is sen-say?
sen-say is a system keyboard, a reply coach, and a thread auditor — built for texting across languages, cultures, and registers, with a built-in scam screener.
How is sen-say different from Rizz, YourMove, or Wing?
Those tools are dating-focused, English-first, and optimized for "rizz" (alpha-bro replies). sen-say is for cross-cultural texting — dating across language lines, ESL professionals, expats, language learners. Translation and cultural register are first-class; "rizz" is not.
Is my data safe?
On the free tier, all language processing happens on your phone — your messages never leave the device. On Plus and Premium, requests are forwarded to LLM providers (Anthropic, Groq) in real time and discarded. We never store, log, or train on your message content.
Does sen-say work offline?
The free tier works fully offline using a compact on-device model. Plus and Premium features need a network connection because they route through cloud LLM providers for higher-quality analysis.
What languages does sen-say support?
At launch: English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Tagalog. The Cultural Compass covers eight countries (Japan, Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, plus an English-language baseline). More roll out post-launch.
How accurate is the cultural decode?
Good, not infallible. Cultural and emotional nuance is the hardest territory for any model, which is exactly where sen-say focuses. Outputs surface a spectrum of likely reads rather than one verdict, so you stay in control. Send specific failures to hi@sensay.me — they feed our eval set.
How much does sen-say cost?
The free tier — on-device translation, decode, and basic reply coaching — is free. Plus and Premium are paid subscriptions managed by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play). Exact pricing appears in the App; we keep it within typical productivity-app ranges.
Does sen-say train AI on my messages?
No. We do not store message content, do not log it, and do not use it for training. Our LLM providers (Anthropic, Groq) commit by contract to not train on API data by default. The free tier stays on-device entirely.
Does sen-say work in WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, Slack?
Yes. sen-say is a system keyboard, so it works inside any text field on your phone — WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, Slack, dating apps, email, anywhere. The Coach and Analyze features are accessed inside the sen-say app itself.
Will sen-say sound like me, or like a generic AI?
Like you. Replies are coached toward your phrasing patterns and edits. The keyboard remembers your tone over time, so what you send keeps reading as you — not as a flattened AI assistant.
Can sen-say spot scams?
Yes. Scam Shield reads suspicious threads and links and names the pattern — pig butchering, fake recruiter, phishing, romance scam, advance-fee — flags the specific tells, and tells you what not to send. Cross-cultural by default: openers that read normal in one culture can be classic scam rhythm in another.
When does sen-say launch?
We are pre-launch as of mid-2026. App Store and Google Play submissions are queued. Email hi@sensay.me to be notified when listings go live.
Why is it called "sen-say"?
From "sensei" — the Japanese word for teacher or coach. The hyphenated spelling is a bilingual pun: it works in both English (the app helps you say things) and Japanese.
